HI guys seeking to remove rust before painting cast iron parts I'm going to ceramic coat for high-temperature application 1000+ deg talking about engine headers and turbo manifolds.
what is the preferred method for rust removal?
I've tried the wire wheel but it doesn't get into the little...
120 grit really polished it up I guess I could have just used 60 grit as it would cut a lot faster and save me a bit of time.. as the sandpaper loosing it’s cutting ability I could of ended up with same results.
so first I found a piece of granite that was long enfough to slide the whole manifold on it with keeping it flat.
Next I used a razor blade and glass cleaner to clean the granite to make sure there is no dirt and debris on it.
Scraping the Granite while keeping the blade flat not to gouge...
hey guys thanks for all the info
my head is flat and within factory spec so I only need to worry about the manifold.
I got some granite pieces and also have some extra anyone needs a piece let me know
I figure I'm gonna start with 60 grit then 80 then finish 120 grit.
So I went on Kijiji looking for some granite pieces i went all the way down to Okotokes, the guy wanted me to take all I only needed a few pieces to do some flat sanding I guess you can call it lapping
I have about 6 pieces anyone need a piece let me know FREE
I didn’t do the bucket mod. But I do like the idea of all the junk sitting to be bottom. Maybe even use a pickup hose on a Floating buoy so it sucks the cleaner fluid from the top
