I doubt it will hurt anything, as you are not likely to push it anywhere near its max and you always start off the work piece and work your way in. I always run a stroke cycle with the power off by pulling the belt to confirm that all is clear prior to hitting the go button.

I suspect my words sre going to fail me, but here I go anyway. On a garden tractor you will find a belt guide that wraps around the drive pulley. When the drive is disengaged, the belt pushes back against the guide and clears the pulley. If you download a parts diagram of the drive pulley on a...

At this point, I think all of its glory is in the story from what I have seen online and on tv, can't say it even got an honourable mention on my bucket list of things to do and see . :p

What about hacking them out of an old two piece drive shaft?

Sometimes I think the making of the tools to do the job is more gratifying than the job it's self. :cool: And then there's just the shaper it's self, unload it tomorrow and plug it in, you'll know what I mean. ;):p

I'm a little bit intrigued as to how well it works, and whether you would recommend it after using it for a while. I have to admit though, that title ran a shiver up my spine. I thought "my god, he's got a spaceship......" :rolleyes: :p

I might have missed a lot, but, if I was looking for 3 thou and surface finish was of paramount importance I would grind a shear tool and take it in 2 or 3 passes.

I blame it all on gravity, we really need to ban that crap as it just ain't safe. :rolleyes: Unfortunately it was my dominant arm, I could still chain up a tandem truck, but there was no way I could change a light bulb. Lifting it over my head or reaching out was out of the question, strangely...

Unfortunately, not as much happened over the winter as I had hoped. It turns out that taking shortcuts down ladders is really hard on the body. I took the express lane down one last fall and tore my shoulder up pretty good, it's coming along, but it's been a long haul. :rolleyes:
