The pic on the bottom could be laser engraved but more likely chemical etched if massed produced. That said, yes my 30w galvo would deep engrave stainless like that in about 3 passes without issue. I deep engraved stainless to .02" deep often, especially for watch parts.
Go for the mill! Watches are nice but you can't do much with them (I say this and I make watches :p) besides Rolex is way over rated, I've yet to understand how a company that produces more than 1 million watches per year can charge the prices they do.....good marketing I guess. If it must go...
I find this to be sort of sad, you have the money and want something special yet it must conform with others in the family. I don't think I could live with that, and I'm not trying to be selfish! We live such a short life, make the best of it.
Awesome!
Like Mcgyver I have a leak issue that can't be sealed (by my conventional methods) only on the carriage. I've tried silicone, plumbers tape and plastic sheet. All will leak eventually. Going to give this a try.....
For the most part they are meant to drill or bore a hole but myself (as perhaps a few others) use them for precision boring for things like spindle pockets or bearing journal shoulders. I'm just happy to know that what I did was beneficial.
LOL idiots...both the delivery guy and the wrong address recipient. Glad you finally got it.
I had a package delivered the same way a while back but the OP was kind enough to drive it over!
Ya I pretty much figured it was a pitch issue in the screw where they got as close as they could in metric. There's no end play in the quill, everything is tight as the machine was bought new by me and I use the machine moderately. Despite the fact that tailstocks aren't really meant for...
I will post a pic later, but basically when you set the tailstock dial to zero then turn it one full inch on the Mit scale the dial is like 3 or 4 thou (can't remember) past the zero.
