Exactly what I was thinking before I read your note!

I often think about the merits of a little lathe - maybe even a Taige.
 
The clone that I bought was a strange mix of good and slightly odd. Tony from Lathes.co.uk thought it was likely an Indian clone.
The overall appearance was very Myford-like.
The labeling was excellent.
The leadscrew for the cross slide was 60 degree thread of an unknown pitch.
The leadscrew for the compound was an Acme thread.
The change gears were exactly like a genuine Myford.

The thing that alerted me to it being a clone was no serial number and no Myford logo cast into the headstock.

This might also answer my questions about my round column mill/drill. It's a very weird duck. No SN or maker or ID. The X-Axis lead screw is also 60 degree. It's worst sin is an 11 unit dial on x&y.

Perhaps it's an Indian clone.
