A rather more old-fashioned looking incarnation of the 280 was the 140 mm centre height by 800 mm between centres Model LZG-280N. This used a cast-iron stand with drive to the headstock spindle by a conventional, less-expensive countershaft unit held within the left-hand cabinet plinth. The customer could specify either a single-speed motor, that gave 12 spindle speeds from 38 to 1600 r.p.m., or a 2-speed that provided a range spanning 38 to 3200 r.p.m.
 
Took a quick look as was nearby for something else. The Weiler is grubby, but not as bad as I’d expect for a 1950’s (?) machine. Metric machine, as expected. Couldn’t power up, motor doesn’t look original and couldn’t see plate for voltage, but looks easy to replace. Mutifix as in pics but only the one tool holder. No 4jaw or faceplate. Does have a dead length collet set up (didn’t have callipers so don’t know which type) in cabinet and drill chucks, odds and ends.

Didn’t take chuck off.

Not a clue about spindle bearing condition. Other stuff in way so couldn’t look at change gears.

Very lightly screwed to pallet.
