W. P. Davis Machinery went belly-up in 1923. So this was designed when men were men, and machinists were expected to be missing a few fingers just as a source of pride.

I think I’ve seen this one before. And the speed control looks suspiciously like a car transmission with a splined input shaft.

That would fit in around here with the JD paint job, just need to finish the carriage and steady rest.
 
I'd guess the 12,000 is supposed to be like a placeholder, you knowm abc, xyz, 12345. Not a clever marketing approach imo, but doubt he expects 12,345. Then again I've been shocked before
 
I hate it when they ask to be messaged for pricing. I am guessing they have no clue as to what is it worth and just fish. Also almost 5 months on the market.
