Today I cancelled DisneyPlus and Amazon Prime which I'd only recently gone back to in order to get free shipping on a few orders I was putting in. The monthly membership was cheaper than the shipping costs.

I'd already informed Netflix I was dropping them but wish I'd waited to frame it both as US products and services boycott and price increase protest both. Oh well

Here is what I send Disney employee via chat

"Hello, I wanted to inform Disney that I will be cancelling my DisneyPlus subscription effective February 6th 2025. I want you to pass along to your superiors the reason I am cancelling now, despite not being a frequent viewer, is because trump has imposed tariffs on Canada and attacked our economy. As a result Canadian consumers must respond with our own counter actions. So #byeFelicia"

Disney is a good target for a boycott since trump hates them, and his proxies have been attacking Disney for years.

The only other major purchases we make from the US are food products. My wife and I discussed what alternatives we'd be looking for to replace such items. Mexico grows loads of produce so at least we can support our boycott ally.

Aye to that mate!!!

The last time I waded in on this my post was deleted. chuckle. A little too political. Understand, this is called a trade war.

I like the ban on politics, but wish there was some distinguishing between economics and politics ...... e.g:

he wants foreign corporations to return jobs to US

1. "on-shoring' those jobs is a recipe for lowering the standard of living as lower cost offshore workers are currently subsidize the standard of living and
2. If it did happen, who's going to do the work? They've had full employment for years (anything under 5% is consider full employment, there always some between jobs etc)

If you read an economics journal, you usually have no clue as to the author's politics. Just the facts (and analysis) ma'm.

To wade into politics (just a bit), how about a big export tax on the 140B of deeply discounted energy we send? I suspect that would hurry up the resolution of things.
