I believe this is one I mentioned a few weeks back. Both lathe and mill were badly in need of clean up. The lathe also had a 6 jaw chuck as well as the usual 3 & 4.

I guess I should have said "she" not he. Condolences on her loss.
Do you think they would cleanup okay?

I didn't look at them closely, but if the couple of year old photo is any indication, then yes they'd clean up. The $3500 is definitely not for both. She's been told that each is worth that, and although I did not inspect them really, I don't disagree.

If that's the lathe I saw, then that should be a pretty good deal - although she had been advised to sell the tooling separately, so I have no idea what might or might not be included. Hopefully, at least the 3 & 4 jaw chucks. I guessing not the 6 jaw? but who knows.

The extra parts that were mentioned for $1k are now at $500, the chucks and stuff may be there.
Unless one buyer gets the lathe, mill, and 'extras', the odds seem (to me) very good that 'bits' will be separated from their machines. In bygone days I went to a lot of rural auctions, and it was common to see accessories for tools end up in a 'box' that was a separate lot. I also spotted on more than one occasion, people hiding items in a box that they intended to bid on, but that's a different thing. :)

I surprised these have not gone - at that price it's a deal. I'm guessing they were not cleaned up, and the mess may be scaring away potential buyers? I have no need for another lathe, or another project, and am in the middle of a move, or I'd consider it just because I'm a sucker for a good deal.

I don't have the need or the wanna at this point either. I'd like to think I could be someone else's second lathe as they could be mine.
