That is a Tool Cutter & Grinder with a sensitive work head.
It comes with lots of attachments - like I identified a saw sharpening attachment, end mill sharpening attachment, wheel dresser, between centers grinding, some other stuff in a box.

Very good deal, the EM sharpening attachment alone is around $200 or so (I can tell you exactly as one is on sale on eBay auction right now). Saw sharpening is probably another 200 - I can tell you sensitive work head exact price as well, but I bet around 300. Overall accessories alone, when parted out, are worth easily 750.

750 is the minimum. The sale accepts sealed bids and then publishes the results a week or two later.

Oh man, wish I had a bit of fun money to play with, I would have totally made a Saskatoon run for that! Just not in the cards at the moment but looks like someone will get an awesome machine. Any machine tool with German all over it has to be good, right? ;)

That well accessorized, it is the deal of the year if goes for the start bid. Good quality air bearings can sell for close to that much. Out of a research facility (vs production) means its likely barely been used.

The issue for most probably is "Do I really need a T&CG"? I'm here to tell you do :D. Its like the wood working mantra, the skilled man can sharpen his own tools. Its a great step up and opens all kinds of new doors; always having a sharp end mill available, horizontal milling (unattractive if you can't sharpen those super expensive cutters), light duty cylindrical grinding, super accurate lathe tools (need to cut an internal butress thread? no problem just grind the tool and do it!), drills that drill within a few thou and so on. Its just really nice always having the perfect, sharp cutter on hand.
