So, I know you guys in the West think that used metal lathes are cheap as dirt in Ontario...and just as plentiful. Whatever the reason, Kijiji sellers seem to be asking the moon-and-stars nowadays. To me, each of the following is asking MORE than the price of a new import in a similar class...

You think someone is going to offer free shipping? We're maybe getting too spoiled by amazon lol. Point is he is willing to package and ship. That is somewhat unusual as its a considerable time burden on the seller vs waiting for the guy who's going to backs up with his pickup.

Still....we've likely all the seen the photos of top heavy lathes toppled over and damaged in shipping. If I was buying it, I'd probably say keep the bench and bolt the lathe directly to a heavy pallet

What I meant is that he will choose the most expensive do everything for him alternative of which you will have no control of cost or method.

If you have control of cost and method then in reality you are doing your own shipping.

Anyway, my thoughts on this are all really just me being a pessimist.
