I wrote asking for better photos (ad's are quite blurry) and recieved photos of a different lathe.

I think his reference to scraping must mean paint or grunge or whatever vs scraping as it applies to machine tool reconditioning. I asked for photos of the scraping, and about the process and recieved no comment back. I don't believe its scraped, someone who had done so would be (you'd think) rather proud of it and interested highlighting and explaining it

Aha, we have all been asking questions at the same time!

The ad location is about 20 minutes from me; just over in Etobicoke. I asked about seeing the machine and got a response this morning at 9:15 that I could see it any day except Tuesday. And that it was in Embro--which is about 2 hours from Etobicoke! So I asked a few more questions and got incomplete answers. By 9:55 the seller told me "Lathe is sold pending pickup." Did one of you actually pull the trigger in that 40 minute window??

seems fishy.

I know there are a few amateur equipment dealers out that way...
