I hear good things about these lathes. Can someone provide a brief say top 5 or 10 things to know about these lathes (The 11" version)?

Variations, features (do they have power cross-feed)? What to look for if purchasing (problem areas?)

I see it's gone, @slow-poke did you get it?

You'll be hard pressed to fine any bad words about the SM lathes, I have the later model 1120 and had a 9" Utilathe. The only reason I changed out the 9" was I wanted a bigger spindle bore other wise I'd probably still have the 9". As for features if you go to the SM web site they have most of the manuals available to download, https://standardmodernlathes.com/, go to the owner resources tab and pick the machine you're interested in.

About the only thing to watch for is the same as any machine, wear and abuse.

I was very fortunate to find the 1120, https://canadianhobbymetalworkers.com/threads/sm1120-finally-found-one.2887/, its in excellent condition with some of the extras appearing to never have been used. So far it's been a great machine and I believe it will serve me well for many years to come.

No I did not get it. I'm not unhappy with my CX706, but the SM weighs about 3x so that tells me something.

I downloaded the manual for future reference. Looks like the1120 would just fit in my present limited space.

The general points I made here apply and would be my reasons for chosing one over a new import. Of course you have to balance that with condition and wear

They were really a going concern and made in Canada so you'll here about them constantly. About every high school in the country had at least 1/2 a dozen at one point....there are a lot of them out there.
