Its sure a nice unit a little elbow grease I think it would clean up nice.
The metric aspect is something it would depend how much standard work you would have to do.
For me it would also mean my lathe would have to come upstairs and this one go downstairs and I think my priority is getting myself a small mill for the basement for now and then worry about about upgrading my lathe but one can dream!
