Stanko 6R12 vertical mill (russian knockoff of a great German design). 220v 3ph 35a. 10hp spindle drive 3hp table drive with feed and rapid return on all 3 axis. Can be run from the front or behind the table. It was pointed out to me when I bought it that it needed one table control switch replaced due to a coolant leak. Parts were available from StanCanada so it is now replaced and leakproof. I have $5k into it. Tried to build a rotary phase converter but no completion of that project.

I couldn't fit that into my shop if I wanted to... but I 'm curious. I see X, Y, and Z handles, plus another (or does that duplicate something?) Looks like the turret might rotate a full 90 deg or even more?

The guy I bought it from had a second one for sale; the big sister was well over this one’s 7000 lbs. More money with included DRO, but one look at the amp draw scared me off that one. It seems the standard story — changing over to CNC.

The spindle head is graduated to 45 degrees in either direction. Spindle speed/direction change only done behind the table and table feed changes are only done from the front. Start/stop buttons for spindle and table are from the front or behind the table. Table handwheel controls are only from the front. Table movement controls are from the front, and although a tiny bit less convenient can be run from behind the table as well. Table lock on all axis, and spindle lock. I installed a swing arm and Mitutoyo 3 axis DRO but haven’t installed any of the scales. Integral swing down shield.
