A couple of buddies bought a sawmill a few years back. It was cutting all sorts of wonky. I went out and found the blade guides all worn and the one guide mounting arm was bent. I threw an indicator on the base and ran the head/blade over and found .100 of change from the front of the teeth to back of blade. This caused the blade to ramp up to which point it couldn't ramp no more and then dove down. Lather, rinse, repeat.
Alot of the boards were coming out quite wavy. Long story short, some quick adjustments and got them cutting some straight boards.
They also asked me to machined up some bearing guides. I also recommended integrating some adjustability into them to allow for height and angular fine tuning.
Its a 2 PC design, oversized slot along the vertical allows for height and minor angular adjustment, and is locked into place with 2x 5/16NF bolts and backing. I still need to bore the holes in the mounting blocks. The lower bearing are fixed in position and the upper bearings are slotted to allow for different thickness blades.
For some reason these are the only 2 pics that will upload. I will take some new ones tomorrow.
