Yeah, I looked at it when posted. Change gear set will be about 400-500 extra. Used gearbox is around at least another 1700.
Price is OK, but not anything "special".
The ML 7R is based around ML Super 7, but it is totally stripped down, no gear box, no clutch no power cross slide. Bed is the same as Super 7 and it has high speed of super 7.

When I sold my ML 7B for 3500 few months back it was missing the high speed of super 7 but had gear box, taper attachment, follow rest and few small items plus original base. These would add around 3000 extra to add to this lathe. So for over 4500 you would have equivalent of ML 7B without clutch but with higher speed capability - i.e. my ML 7B was a way better deal.

Well, yes, both are better deals then the AB - But ON is known to be cheaper.

You can BTW, make your own gear box for ML7 - you need to buy some castings and set of rare gear cutters. It takes roughly 2 weeks and is said to be "challenging". Out of pocket costs are few hundred CAD + two weeks time.

Of course you can cut your own set of change gears as well - you probably need cutters for at least $150 CAD (or more) and maybe a week of time to cut few hundred gear teeth.

What is the difference in cutters? I would have thought the only difference anyone would find is wentworth threads maybe.

They are not standard metric stuff you can easily get. "Myford change gears of all years are 20DP with a 14.5 PA. The gears are 3/8" wide (0.375") with a 5/8" bore (0.625") and 1/8" (0.125") keyway. A standard ML7 or Super 7 changewheel set is: 20(2), 25, 30, 35, 38, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60, 65, 70 and 75."

Standard gear cutting metric set (as I remember from long ago) costs around $100 off aliexpress. I.e. something like M1.5

To get 20DP with 14.5PA you may be forced to buy US made stuff or simialr where each cutter is like $100 CAD - https://www.victornet.com/category/14-1-2-degree-PA-20-DP-48-DP-Involute-Gear-Cutters/1275.html

@Tom Kitta : I have a full set of 20DP 14.5 PA - Ebay $110 Now, if that PA is 20 - then all bets are off. I have been quoted $85 to $550 for each cutter. All the MOD cutters seem to be the 20 PA - frustrating

Then you better advertise them as MyFord cutters - at that price they should fly off the shelf as soon as MyFord owner finds you have the set they need for next to nothing.
Your set is new about 100 CAD per cutter.

Just to chime in here, Boston Gear has the correct DP/PA change wheels. I picked up a couple from BDI so I could do metric with my imperial QC box on my Super 7. They were $55 each, not as much fun as doing your own but less expensive. Supposedly you can buy many sizes through https://www.rdgtools.co.uk at a lower cost but they didn't have the sizes I wanted.
