Modern mill vancouver

$12800 with lots of tooling and stuff. Delta BC

There are a lot of high quality goodies in there. I bet the current cost would add up to a big number

Tooling cost is maybe $1000 and that is counting most stuff as NEW. Most stuff is typical Chinese, nothing high end. Heck, I recognize the gage set from aliexpress - I seen it today - I think $100.

So mill and vise are 11800. Vise looks nice, even if we give its value as 600 the mill is still 11200. Out of all tooling vise is the only brand name stuff.

Smaller mill 11000+ feels expensive even @ today's market.

It seems like a speculative price.

It is 3 phase with a static converter, so everything, all in, is about 14K - 14.5K new. And that's before negotiating a discount from Modern (which is pretty standard these days).

So 13K new. My guess if I were appraising it for sale (say for a widow or something) would be 8K$ all in - after all most of it is unused/once used.

Tom, I don't have a good sense for what machine packages fetch, or should fetch, or depreciation, condition, parting out etc. Its not really my jam.
I just said the current cost (of accessories) would add up. As in compared to a bare machine. Just shoot'n the breeze. Spit-ball numbers:
Align-X $500
Align-Z $550
Mitutoyo Quill DRO $300
Gerardi 6" vise $1500
Vertex RT $600
3 Mitutoyo indicators $300
3 Mitutoyo mics + stand $350
That's what $4100 so far, sans GST + shipping, sans phase converter, ok vintage DRO, drawer cabinet, gage block set, hold-down set, cutting tools, collets, drill chuck... yada-yada rest of the stuff.
I'm not speculating on value or he will get asking price. I'm just saying 'it would add up' if someone had to equip an otherwise bare machine.

BTW if you ever need to unload your 'typical Chinese' Mitutoyo or Gerardi stuff for deep discount, I'm your man! But it must be new condition! LOL

ok vintage DRO
Acu-Rite (Heidenhain) is still in business. You can even get software re-loads if you need them.

They are very expensive. Like USD 2500.00 for a 3-axis mill package.

There is no Mitutoyo micrometers there, these are standard China, I have the same set. Stand is std Chinese as well. RT is around 350 new ... I have same one. Power feeds can be had new for around 250 and they are part of the mill not extra equipment, same as DROs. Gerardi vise used can be easily had for 600 - they went for that in Calgary few months back. I know I bid on them. Gage block set, china, seen it on ali like 48h ago.

I have a lot of "Mitutoyo" if you are willing to pay more then new I can set you up with unlimited amount ;)

I tried on this group about a year or less sell some dial indicators made in US for $20 a pop. Federal and similar. No go. Went on auction for like $10 each. All Calgary prices. I am sure I can get dial indicators again but probably I want to actually make $ on them and $10 per Mitutoyo is just too cheap for me to make $ off. I can maybe do $30, if I get some, but this time pp have to indicate they want the stuff as I am not selling these used dial indicators for $10 a pop again and going red.

I can get you same condition Gerardi vise for $1000 easy - there just needs one to come on the market & I need to be sure you want it.

Let me guess, you paid $325, sell for $1000, pocket $675 & keep the valuable Wiha screwdrivers & oilers. HaHa. Just kidding. I'm not really an auction guy, maybe I should start poking around.
You are probably right about the mic's, who knows. The lookalikes pass visual 6" away never mind a grainy picture. If they were brand it would be in his interest to state that.

Anyways, I guess there are deals out there if one endeavors to look. I'll have to tell my wife to back off the arsenic, she may not be as rich as she thinks. And don't forget to factor in DabblerCo for hauling/removal fees. LOL

Wow, I missed that auction! Which one was it? That was a great deal!

We looked at the Shaublin, but there was no cross slide or apron. We even asked the owner, and he said they were lost a long time before. The guy I was with was very interested in it. Would have cost too much to restore it.

I was the loosing bidder (2nd place) on that Shaublin. It looked so nice but as Dabbler said there were "issues". I know price feels now so low, but that was a year ago. He used that lathe as a buffing wheel driver - i.e. he polished stuff on it. Hence it was mounted on the lathe.

Just for curiosity what should a mill and tooling like this be priced at in the Alberta Market?

Dabbler set a good price of 8k. If DRO is an indication of age this is not "almost like new" machine. I am guessing 1990s? late 1980s?

2 years ago I sold almost identical machine (just machine) for 4200 CAD. It had 1 power feed, 1 power draw bar (commercial not home made). Say this one is a bit better machine (has extra old DRO) and after 2 years we had some inflation. So max 6000? Tooling, including vise would then be a whopping 2000.

So Dabbler 8k does sound like a good starting point.
