Didn’t see this one mentioned, Woodbridge, Ontario, just off the 400.

“Milling Machine
As is needs work. Motor gears need replaced. Missing some handles. Use for parts.
$500 OBO. Pick up at site only.”

I didn't think that they had gears in the drive...... I wonder if they mean the pinion gear for nodding the head for and aft..... Judging by the picture I would put my guess as that being a possiblity..... Might be worth looking at if someone is close and looking for a project....... It's really not much more than beer money at $500.

I didn't think that they had gears in the drive......

They have a bull gear speed reduction system in the head under the belt.

But they could also mean the power down feed which has a fairly complex 3 speed gear system or the quill drive or the head nod, tilt, or ram which all have a rack and drive gear.

that base gives the impression it's over the 2500lb mark...definitely been picked over for repairs to other machines with the odds n sods missing...

It looks like it could turn out to be a lot of work, to me. For a business, potential money pit. But for fun, hey! cheap and cheerful, keeps you out of trouble and off the street. :)

For ANYBODY, a potential money pit! Closer inspection would show how bad, but with no handles or apparently, bearings (y axis) or lead screw at all (X axis), I'd suggest that unless you had a plan in mind, or needed that one as a clone of the one you already have, then it suffers from "Net Negative Value". It's going to cost more to move it, than it is worth as scrap!

AND, it's 575V only. You can buy better boat anchors, cheaper!

I believe a new head is about $7k, if the ways are good, balls screws anywhere from $500 to $4k (source and precision dependent). Forget handles, CNC it.....$5k.

Could be worth it for someone.

I'll beg to disagree. Seen too many decently complete, CNC machines that are NOT stripped down hulks, selling for far less than I would really expect to have to fork over in parts, not to mention time.

In my estimation, if the head WAS worth anything, it would have gone in the same loads as the rest of the missing pieces.

I think you mis-read my post, key words being "could be", but if you do the math dropping another $16k at the top end which the base portion must be really good.

Would I? No.

Nah. Didn't misread the post at all. Just firmly of the opinion that even sparking a bit of hope in to someone new enough to think that was a good idea to take on a pile of junk like that, is a disservice.
It did not, I believe, get in to that derelict condition, by way of being tenderly loved and cared for by careful use! Jess sayin! :) Expectations to the contrary would likely be misplaced hope!

Funny actually because some of the stuff promoted on the site, is likely in as bad shape or worse and doesn't get these comments. In some case some rebuild them for fun.

I don't think a newbie is going to look at a machine like that, check ways, and then invest $16,000 just to get it working, let alone the time and skills involved. For that price you can buy a new manual mill without headaches.

The only one that would consider something like that, is if they know the machine and desire what it offers.

Totally agree! And, I must have missed the machines you are thinking of! Optimism is one thing, but I truly don't feel bad, pointing out the a Crack Pipe may have been involved in someone's pricing of junk! LOL!

I still figure that the reason it is for sale is that the guy hopes some sucker will pay to haul it away, instead of him having to pay to have it hauled!

Likely closer the truth, you'd be luck break even if you've paid for it.
