Metal Cutting Lathe at Auction

Amazing how much rust there is on such an otherwise newer looking machine. Looks like the auctioneers were pretty rough on it too. And where are all the accessories?

Yeah dropped twice. Sold at last auction. Now back on sale. Maybe it was now dropped three times.

It has few accessories that came with the lathe - I remember from last month.

What do you mean by dropped?

Man, that thing must have been stored outside to be that rusty in AB.

Dropped as in it fell forward and it fell backwards and who knows what else.

Do not expect it too cheap - if I remember correctly it sold for around 3500 with fees last time. Milling machine that sold with it went for just few hundred $ less than new.

Yeah, no chance I will bid if it gets up that high...I paid $3000 for mine used with a DRO and tooling and such. I wouldn't pay more than $500 for a spare parts lathe.

There is no chance to get a lathe for "spare parts" of this type in AB for 500 even if it happened to be broken in half.

I expect to sell again for around 2500 - if it sells for say 1500 I would be the one buying it. Clean it up, fix it as needed, test it and resell. Chances of that happening are around 1%.

Tom if you look at the dials, etc they are seriously bent. I wouldn't give 500$ for it, and it is already at $510.

I re-inspect it when I come by it next weekend - maybe they added additional damage since last time I saw it. This lathe did fall back and did fall forwards so naturally some stuff would be damaged - but more could have been damaged last month.

I see that the carriage is in the same place I left it so probably no more damage.

I was also shocked when it sold for I believe with fees 3500. I expect less this time around, maybe 2500. However to get to 3500 someone had to go 3400.

What do you know, it has been pulled from auction! I wonder whatever original buy did indeed pick it up - i.e. it was not the case of shill bidding. We see whatever it comes up again - with its "marks" it will be very easy to identify.
