Looking for Dickson Tool holders

Hello I'm looking for some Dickson style tool holders, I have a couple and would like to get a few more. Does anyone know where to buy these?

RDG Tools in the UK sell certain sizes of them:

Hope you are sitting down for the prices...

There are many copies made of the original Colchester/Dickson tool post and holders. They are not compatible with the original ones. The V spacing is close, but does not match perfectly and thus the holder rocks.

Bison, out of Poland, are to only OEM which are the correct size you can buy these days, afaik. Again, $$$$s.

That’s the reason I made my own. I made 3 for 3/4” tool holders and 3 for 1” tools. Not too difficult to make them, just be careful with the V - spacing and you will be fine.

Nice work, Rudy. What did you use for material selection? Did you make those before or after your surface grinder tune-up?

Thanks Peter, they are getting scratched up with use, so not as pretty as they once were...

no idea what type of steel it is, other than the billet these were cut out of have red and black colour coding, a date of 1996 (if memory serves), not a speck of rust on them, but are magnetic. i think it is an alloy of stainless steel. It is tough material as I found out the hard way: it ate a 1” SKF, HSS, roughing end mill in one pass because I ran it too fast (rpm too high and not enough feed).

the three smaller ones were done before the SFC Grinder tune up. The others after. Biggest difference: I can now take heavier cuts before I run into the “chatter” marks issue. Only the six outside surfaces of each block were ground, the features are all milled only.
Roughing and finishing end mill for the slots, Woodruff Key Cutter for the undercut (because I happen to have one of the correct size) and a sharp, 4-flute carbide end mill for the Vs with the blocks set at 45* in a vice.

Do you have the dimensions of yours handy? I have some sitting around that I have no use for, inherited them with some other equipment. I have cleaned them up and they are in good shape.
