Sometimes living in paradise seems to leave feeling like you have a target on ones back. I'm pretty close to the Fraser River and just above the flood plain and I am pretty confident that we're going to keep our toes dry even if it goes suddenly, which I don't think it will. At 1 km thick and 30 m high, I am pretty sure that it will top and reasonably slowly erode a channel back to it's original depth....... Going to be a heck of a you tube video if I am wrong though......I saw this along with the wildfires . I know some of you are close to this . Stay safe !
Even with the perils that mother nature throws our way, how goofy some of the rules are, and the over the top cost of living; I couldn't agree with you more BC is my idea of paradise. What a beautiful area. You guys out there are lucky to call that home.
I don't think there's much the government, or anybody else can do about this. It's just a game of wait and see, if some folks are comforted with having sand bags around their houses, having them might help some. Down stream along the Fraser we are only expecting levels to reach spring freshet at worst.... It's the debris potential that I find most worrisome, the fish will be the hardest impacted at the end of the day.....Our government is doing a great job, free sandbags for all those effected.
Might be better to find a Dutch boy and hire his thumb though.
The backhoes are the easy part, it's the operators willing to go out there that's the issue.I think I’d get some backhoes in there and start cutting a channel.
The gold did cross my mind to.
Oooooooo, free sandbags! How absolutely magnanimous of them......free sandbags for all those effected
I'm busy this week. Sorry.Might be better to find a Dutch boy and hire his thumb though.
