One of those cut a hole in the ceiling for the z ones. It does look like a beast though.

Is it possible to replace the motor with a larger diameter to reduce its height?

It’s not hard to cut a hole in the garage ceiling. To save space we angled it into the corner making it tighter in that cutout area.
