I just scored a bridgeport head, and right angle attachment accessories

After all the issues watching this auction I still managed to get the two lots I was after, including this bridgeport head and accessories.
I'll part the head out to fix the power downfeed on our mill, and if the voltage is correct I'll send the motor out to @Birkhoff in BC

I'm not sure what's in the box..

It looks like it would bolt onto the quill too

actually, this is likely a clone... the accessories most likely. i wasnt able to make inspection days

Or actually maybe an M head, or R head, which would mean no parts for power down feed... but frankenhead possibilities

What voltage is Birkhoff looking for? (Coworker is looking for a 240V motor for his First mill, having discovered how awkward powering 600V machines is, outside of industrial/commercial buildings)

I think the bottom half of the heads are the same. That's where the power feed is. So don't write it off just yet.

Also, I fixed the power feed on my Hartford BP clone by removing all the quill stop hardware, cleaning it, and reinstalling. The power feed trip mechanism is really finicky.

@TorontoBuilder - the other thing that was broken on mine was the 3 spd gearing for the power feed. I got replacements for the broken parts from H&M machining and it was golden.

This entire system is a BP weakness. It's all way too easy to break. If I had a nickel for every BP I've seen with a broken power feed......

Rotary phase converter strapped too 600v transformer works good. That's what I got set up for my 550v 5hp mill.
(Much cheaper then new or rewound motor.) Also can be tapped to run other voltage machines depending on transformer.

You can run the 600v motors at lower voltages with VFD but you lose a fare amount of RPM and torque.

Fixed spindle. No power or hand feed.
The one I snagged definitely has a handle ergo a manual quill downfeed

M head or M head clone looking more likely. Were there M head clones though?

All new territory for me. Don't think I'd want a mill with no quill.... The thought of cranking that knee up and down all day every day makes me dizzy.
