Description says it won't turn on,, could one be lucky enough that it wasn't plugged in? lol. Lots of extra stuff on carts.

I think those had some special and complicated electronic and electrical systems for variable speed adjustments, similar to the more modern Colchester Triumphs. If it's mechanical, should only be a matter of dealing with switch gear/motor. Would love to have this machine. Being a Colchester, I'm betting it will go for significantly more than 3k as of today.

I think John could be right. Retail would go for closer to 9-10k. I’m going to guess $6k at auction.

I really want to bid on this lathe however the government employee managing this isn't responding to calls. Real pain to deal with something that potentially the seller wont help package up for shipping.

All the extra "stuff" makes it even more interesting. Knowing the gov they would have bought a completely outfitted machine, all the bells and whistles.
I know the listing says no shipping or help but it also says it's "off site" so nothing to lose by asking, good luck.

Good luck, but....the listing is extremely clear, so not surprising that you aren't getting a response. You've got 5 days from when you buy it to remove it, from what I saw. Gas up that truck! :)

Lol, I’m not going to bother doing the math, it’s just a real pain. Over 4500km each way! I do have someone in Toronto who could help but it’s a big ask. Not really worth it. I’ll keep my eyes open for something better and closer to home.

Ah, I thought you were part of the Alberta 'crowd' (your location isn't listed). That's even farther than from Victoria.... :) And with fuel prices today, it wouldn't be difficult to add $1-2k + in travel costs. There'a always another bargain just around the corner.... :)

I'm going to guess you're watching the local buy/sell sites and commercial suppliers. What is your criteria, size/features, for a machine?
Always keeping my eyes open for a Colchester Bantam, Harrison equivalent (M250), a M300 would be nice, Emco Maximat 11 or 13 or a relatively new Taiwan 36/40. Weight no more than 1400lbs. Alternatively, by next year I may just buy a new 40” Taiwan lathe from PM or Bell Machinery.
