Ducdon Gone.

My days of motorcycles and Ducati's is over so I have decided to drop the Ducdon and just use my name on the forum.
CHEERS
Welcome Don Sipes ;)

I remember when I had to give up racing karts. Between breaking ribs and always nursing sore hands and wrists with agonizing arthritis pain for days it just wasn't worth the short times actually spent speeding around the track

ps it is nice to find out that someone isn't dead when you see a post "so and so is gone"

I am very sorry to hear this, I am nearly in the same boat. I may have to give up riding in the near future also, due to bone spurs and pinched nerves in my neck. April/25 may tell the story, good bad or other wise.
A number of friends have had to give riding up also. "Cars" have helped some, others well, never was any help for them.
There is a saying, "when 1 door closes, another door opens", in my case, when a door opens, it will likely be someone wanting MONEY.

After 40yrs of riding a bike I had to hang up my helmet about 7 years ago, it was really tough.
My bike had always been my escape, just following the front wheel to where ever it took me.
I know exactly how you feel, the sting goes away, ... eventually.
The part that hurts is that I didn't get to make the choice. Here in AB at 80 you need a Doctor's report. I was a bit blindsided. SO, that was then and this is now. I still have lots of projects and other things to do. Hey, more shop time!

I can sort of relate to your story Don...
My two wheeled freedom just came in a different form...Downhill mountain biking...
gravity, dirt, and the sound of the bikes mechanicals were my escape...
Now, the arthritis in my low spine, coupled with complications from a bone spur removal off of my right femur...pretty much pulled me off the bike 5 yrs ago...there's nothing the Dr's can or are willing to do....so my ride has been packed up for 5 years in a shipping box...
damn i miss riding...
don't miss crashing though...wet rides were never my strong suit

I don't miss motorcycles. Many dark years ago a buddy says come for a ride.......big mistake when i looked over his shoulder and saw we were doing over 120mph. Never got on a machine again. In a car no issues, but damn that black top looked hard from a motorcycle.

My street bike days ended when a guy in a car deliberately drove me off the road into a forest. Pulled up beside me, when I looked over, he shot me the finger, and then turned right into me. I was really angry, but I damn near died too. Shortly thereafter I converted that bike into a quasi trials bike.

Mine was the guy turning left on the way out of town pulling a trailer. I went into him sideways and woke up on the ground I did a self test using different muscles to assess the damage when the Medics got there I told them I was broken here, here and here in the ambulance he took a better look at my arm and knocked me out I woke up 3days later from a induced coma with my right side rebuilt then 3 months in a care facility.
My biggest piss off was lying on the ground, not one of the people would give me a smoke.

Anymore years of riding would be great! 2wheel, 3 wheels, hey maybe side car. 4 wheels, hot rod, car ,truck, and ———wheel chair. Which I have been warned, a light blow to the neck in right place may cause. However, as I replied “ a small object to the heart or brain can cause problems too”. The doctor did not really take that with a smile.
Apparently I am getting “a bit stiff necked about some things”,Aurther Ritis, you know, does that!
Off to get 1 maybe 2 hearing aids this morning, might even learn how to turn them on! Wait, them things go in your ear?
