Ye but using shop vac would take minutes to make it in a more reasonable state of dirty. Leaving it like that basically screams 0 maintenance and care for the machine mind you not a very valuable machine but makes you question any other machines he maybe selling as he is trying to sell a older CNC machine for 8k which was pressure washed down for pictures so makes you wonder lol

I'm going to try to get it, I wanted one for a long time and I just sold the little lathe. I do like the term "a reasonable state of dirty" It describes my shop most of the time
No harm in it the price is right with some elbow grease can probly make it a nice looking machine if bearings are good I would say it's a steel of a deal and depending on what your trying to do with it maybe fine as is. If your really lucky maybe not much grit got into the ways or roller bearing and can hold .0001 tolerances

Also if you do get it start thread about the clean up mission I would be curious how many pounds of grit are on that machine :)

Equilibrium has been achieved, every time he wants to use it he has to dig out some crap to find the mag chuck. Balance.

I'm honestly pretty impressed by that amount of swarf. That doesn't happen by accident, you really have to go out of your way to ignore that, and keep using it. If there is that much neglect in the swarf department, I'd be wary about any other issues that may have been ignored.....

I remember from my childhood, there was a "sculpture" kit one could purchase where you chiseled away the softer stone and revealed the bust within........
I think that this is the same idea. But for the price, and the level of precision that I generally work to, this would still fit the bill at an affordable price.

I remember those.

Ah the old "too many responses so I must have listed it too low". I hate guys like that.

I spotted a Makita 18v brushless grinder yesterday for $110, and replied that I could come right away to pick it up. 45minutes later, no response but it's back up for $250.

In the surface grinder case, the guy is a dreamer.

He probly will get 850$ for it but he is kinda a prick for changing price why list it for 500$ if you weren't willing to take 500$. It's like giving lotto tickets for Christmas and fighting over the winnings.

If I list somthing too low I'm not generally worried about it, if I'm selling it I'm trying to make it go away more then profit from it. And kinda at end of day it's your stuff do as one pleases but still maybe do but of research before listing stuff if your worried about losing out.

So now its $850 + spindle rebuild, new single shot lubricator pump and related valves (8 if I recall correctly), and who knows what is hiding under the ways when you lift the bed off. That thing is full of surprises waiting to be found.
At $500 it might have been worth a chance, now not so much.
