Sure it is not the best machine, but its all function of price. You are not exactly paying a premium price either.

What I do not like is that I am unsure as to provision for threading.

Note similar machine new at BB is 3600 CAD (!!!!!)

I don't see a threading indicator.

Yeah it simply may not have any threading capability. One would need to add a motor to where the side handle is and add variable speed for both power feed and some threading capability.

Through this does not make much sense as to why they would use a lead screw there - there is no need for it at all.

On my mini-lath the lead screw did double duty as a power feed. It had change gears for threading.

Combines a mediocre lathe, a mediocre drill press, and a terrible mill. Only machine tool I’ve owned that cost me money. Prior to retiring, I used my lathes & mills to do custom pipe fittings. This specific combo machine failed miserably at the tasks. I replaced it with a Grizzly G0516 and resumed making money, so it’s not the concept, it’s the implementation of this style of combo machine.

Yeah but here the lead screw seem to only connect to the carriage and allows it to be moved with side handle. Never really seen that - why would they invest a lot of $$$ to add a lead screw + side handle + brass nut just to have side movement ability?

I do not see connection to any gear box... very strange.

I agree its not a great lathe, not a great mill and not a great drill press. But this is like top of the line combination machine ---

As you can see it sold for $1250 USD. Which is significantly more $$$ then asked her - and in Alberta!

Also I resolved the lead screw - this is the lathe without gear box - on other lathe this lead screw connects to a gear box which was an option.

Given the age of the machine it could be US made.
