CT043 transformer

I am in need of a transformer and hopefully fast. Dusybee main office in Vaughan is closed until Monday. So is everyone else too. I was hoping for a Canadian supplier of this transformer or equivalent. I looked at Electrozad and a few others in Windsor, and it seems their entire store is on backorder. I don't really care where it comes from, as long as it could get here very fast.

I have attached pics of the numbers... JVC5-63VA 24V 220V. or equivalent. Also one other question. Can I go with higher VA for example 100 instead of 63? most competing transformers looked at said 50 VA, which is a less rating ?

I will at least wait for Busy bee to open on Monday, and if not will then head up to some suppliers in Windsor. I see one on EBAY, but delivery is 2 weeks and its a 100 VA... (I am not sure if its OK to increase the VA. I would prefer to stay with the terminal strips as original or similar.

More VA is better - it can handle more power - there is slight penalty with idle use.

24v - 240v is a standard control transformer - would not be a problem to source one - Amazon is a great place to look for fast shipping.

Check eBay as well under "control transformer 24v 240v" - but it will not get to you by Monday.

This is a copy of our PM on this subject.

You can put a bigger (higher VA rating) one in if it fits. But don't push it. The efficiency goes down if it isn't working as hard as it should.

You also need to make sure it will fit in the same space as the old one.

Lastly, bigger usually costs more.

Lots of places in Windsor to buy control transformers. Try Electrozad or any of the electrical supply places. I'd bet the transformer is pretty common.

If not Amazon is fast.

I found a contender that will fit, but it is costly. I have to go to PA anyway so I will go see what the suppliers in Windsor have. I was aware of Electrozad, and there are two others on Rhodes Drive area...

Here is the contender from Amazon and the data sheet.

This is for a Busybee CT043 lathe. Original has no signal across the contacts with multimeter. My electrician hit a bypass button the spindle turned until he released it. I need to source a replacement by Thursday.. (in my hands). I also don't want to spend that much cash !!! 400 plus 100 dollar shipping is obscene.

looking at this one from electrozad. Automation direct is on bac order until may 1, hopefully the locals have it..

or same as

hopefully the locals have it..

Somebody in Windsor will have a controls transformer. Of that I am certain. It's not if - only where. The trick will be to find it.

Maybe stop in at one of the automation places and ask them who might have one.

Can you save the old transformer for me? I find it odd that it failed like that. I'd like to look at it. As per our PM, I think it would be a good idea to add an in-line fuse (or even fuses) specifically to protect the transformer. You don't need to be looking for another one in a few weeks. What caused your transformer to fail and is that problem still there waiting to bite you again?

I feel badly that I'm not able to help you with this problem. But SWMBO would never allow me to go to Aburg alone much less crawl around inside your machine right now. Maybe later this summer after they figure out what caused my stroke.

Digi-Key will delivery next day for $44+ $8 delivery 80VA),

Or $125 for (100VA),

More VA is fine as long as you have space

DK has 50VA for $27. Too bad you actually need 63VA?

If your in the GTA, A1 electronics on the Queensway, near 427 talk to Glen. Very likely to have something on the shelf for less.

I'm assuming you don't need all those taps?
The one in the link is either 120 or 240Vin, 24V out.
What is your input voltage?

220 in 24 out.

The first one is rated 230Vin, the second one is rated 240V, either one should work.

Depending on a bunch of factors your 220V could be anywhere from a bit less than 220 to a bit more than 240V
