Coal forge restoration

I found this forge hearth and fire pot at a local scrapyard. Its in sorry shape with a some welding needed on the fire pot and tuyere. Most of the forge is missing but the cast parts are there and i should be able to build everything else. It looks like the champion lancaster forge so i am going to try and match that.

Very cool. Do you have weld any of the cast parts?
The fire pot had some cracks starting in the usual spot on the outer rim and a hole burned through where the mounting bolts go that needed to be filled. Most of the tuyere was fine.

I made up the threaded pipe legs and banding that goes around them. I like having a coal bin under the forge to save space so i made a drop in tub that rests on the banding.

Nice looking forge. I tried to find one for a few years that was in usable shape and decently priced, but in the end, just built my own. My Dad found me a hand crank blower though. Which is a Lancaster geared blower, but looks different than the one in the pic. Mine has the snail rotated 90* to the crank, but is still cast No 40, so I wonder if they took some liberties drawing the illustration. The angle of the gearcase is different too.

I have seen a few used ones like mine come and go on marketplace, so they're out there. Mine has been repaired at some point in it's life, and had a rustoleum rebuild, but it still works great.

I think all the champion blowers will have Lancaster pa on them since that's where they where made. I probably wont find the same one depicted but ill get something that matches well.

I located a champion electric blower for the forge. The motor on it needs work but it matches the forge well.
