An interesting piece never seen one before, not the best for pictures, assuming its for rewinding.

Pictures are not very complete of the machine, but I assume it was for turning the commutator of the armatures. That was commonly done when rebuilding motors or generators to take out the wear from the brushes.

Good lord those are poor pictures, they don't even show the whole thing. I'm guessing it is a manually operated thing? I have the Atlas armature turning attachment made for the Atlas 618 lathe and it works well, the couple of times I've used it.

I've seen one like that used on automotive starter motor armature commutators. Back when we still fixed things instead of just replacing them.

It looks like an armature stand, rather than an armature lathe. To me the difference is that there are guides to automatically wind the loops over the stator for each subwinding and if I recall, a handle to spin the wire to make a coil.
