Is there much difference in the off shore tables? An 8" table from vevor is only $330

I had an eBay HV6 table and the fit and finish was actually quite good. Would a Vevor be the same? Hard to say.

Is this one offered on Kijij an offshore make? If it is I'm thinking that's expensive for used. If it's not an Asian made thing, that probably is an an acceptable price?

Based on the amount of filler showing in the pics it's definitely an Asian import. I'd say that pretty pricey for a used import.

Vevor claims "Remarkable Quality", which may not necessarily be a good thing, but I bought a dividing head from them that had "Remarkable Quality" in a POSITIVE sense. I was actually very pleasantly surprised at what good quality the thing seemed for the price paid (I believe it was under $400).

My HV6 was under $400 as well including dividing plates and footstock and once cleaned up it was remarkably good quality.

The vise does have JAPAN cast into it. Does the custom pin in the handle make it worth that much more?

Depending on age I would not pay more for "Made in Japan" than made in China, heck unless its very recent product, I would pay less than Taiwan. There are plenty of "Made in Japan" tap and die sets that are rather... poorly made. Remember Japan used to be what China is today.

I have had a VEVOR XY ‘mill‘ table for a couple years and have yet to find any weakness in the castings or lead-screws. It is not the quality of an Ex-Cell-O #602 knee mill, but, considering I picked it up for less than $100, it became a test bed for design-work.
Currently, I have the unit bolted into my drill press and works well to position workpieces.

Just wanted to say...

I've mentioned often how much I don't know about whether the pricing on the Classifieds is a good deal or not. However, when something is priced outlandishly, I find the subsequent conversation it generates very informative. Thank you.

Vevor somewhat recently entered Canadian market. It is a big company - with warehouses all over the planet. Their prices are very low. Shipping is free and fast (as in UPS). Quality is so - so. I.e. mostly you get identical stuff to say Accusize but sometimes its better sometimes worse. Most of the time its identical stuff.

If you find something with Vevor is ... crap... and can prove it and threaten return they can give you a discount of 30% or even 50%.

I put a Chinese piece of junk x/y table on my drill press 40 years ago. My press is an old Beaver floor model with side thrust bearings. So I was able to do some crude milling with it.

Today I still have the x/y table on my drill press, but I only use it for positioning and it does a great job of that.

I agree with you Len, it doesn't really have to be high quality to be very useful on a drill press.

You mention classifieds. I'm not sure if you mean member spotted deals or classified offers by members.

The policy is to allow as much dialog here on member spotted deals as members want. Once in a blue moon that can cause problems when the referenced item is actually being offered by a member. But that is rare and its gunna be what it's gunna be. I thinks it's always a good idea for any member posting elsewhere to be aware that it makes them open to criticism. Hopefully they can find a win win sale here first.

On the other hand, allowing comments on offers in the classifieds invites an argument and feelings get hurt. So comments on posts in the classifieds section are simply not allowed. Only friendly questions.

Basically, the forum is a place for like minded people to share ideas, suggestions, solutions, have friendly debates, get help, and have fun. We want to keep it that way.

Sorry, wrong terminology. I did mean Member Spotted Deals.

Yes, I find the dialog here useful too. It helps me calibrate my own value balance and learn to appreciate how other members value balance differs sometimes.
