Geepers.... For $50, I'd stage (find room for) a 7X12. They have their uses. I miss the original one I had.

Facebook Marketplace is very strange - that ad just popped up into my view yesterday, but the ad is supposedly months old. Seller replied to me that it's 'No Longer Available' - but whether it sold yesterday or in April isn't clear.

And the ad could have been a typo with $500 the intended price??

At 1050 its a joke. You can get new one, never used, in a box delivered to your home and a 7x14 for way less -- few hundred $$$ in tooling difference. This is worth no more then maybe $400.

I have one of those - a Vevor 7x14. I bought it 6 months ago on impulse. I don't know much about the King lathes. As folks here probably all know, there's a big range in quality (and quality control) between similar-looking 7x lathes. Apparently that's the explanation for popularity of the more expensive LittleMachineShop machines. I agree 100% that $1100 $1050 is too much, but it's cheaper than having a BusyBee 7x12 machine shipped to the door ($1150+tax+$150 shipping) and the BB doesn't include a steady rest or a faceplate. Those 7x lathes just don't come up for sale very often in the Victoria area, so that probably makes a difference. The two King lathes we're discussing are probably entirely separate items, since the $1050 seller shows a copy of the KMS tools receipt. It's hard to imagine the seller at $50 setting that price if he/she had that receipt in hand. Though it may be like the jokes about the divorced wife selling the husband's sports car for him.... :)

With those 7x lathe 'kits', the most desirable used machine would be one that had some of the problems worked out by a previous hobbyist. :) For most 7x owners, it seems that a lot of our projects involve fixing/making accessories for/improving the lathe to match normal expectations. :) It does get one very familiar with every part of the machine, though....

And how is the Vevor machine - I assume it is almost identical to BB and KMS. It is certainly not Little Machine shop quality.

Vevor sells 7x12 lathe for 640 CAD. So why would anyone pay more then 500 for a used lathe in same class?

I've never operated a BB or KMS or LMS machine, so I don't know. I wouldn't assume that any of them are a great deal better thank the Vevor without proof. Even at $2k CAD , the LMS machine doesn't come with a carriage lock or carriage stop, for example. It's only human not to criticize something that you've paid a lot for; easier to carp about something cheap.
My Vevor needed quite a lot of work to be usable, and would have been a real problem for a complete beginner without some 'fixit' skills.
I paid $500 CAD+taxes for my 7x14 Vevor, delivered-via walmart.ca. That may have been a pricing mistake, but they honoured the ad price. It does have a 100mm spindle & 3-jaw chuck, but no Hi-Lo transmission, no steady or follow rest.

Yup obviously a greedy sucker that couldn't allow anyone else have a good deal.
That was my preliminary suggestion (see above comment) but I've changed my mind to "probably a coincidence" after more thought. That KMS receipt shifted the balance, for me.

Anyway, if I could have bought the $50 machine for $100 (I offered), and then listed it for re-sale at $600, I'd be similarly accused of being greedy. Hurrah for capitalism, blah, blah... :)

A used machine demonstrated working properly would definitely be worth more than a new Vevor, IMO - and in the opinion of a lot of other Vevor buyers who have reported in the online groups.
Though a 7x10 is definitely not as desirable as a longer bed lathe, for most uses.
Unless somebody has owned and used a 7x lathe from Vevor (RealBull) or Harbor Freight (Sieg), they have no idea..... :)
It's not the same as y'all with your Hardinge toolroom lathes and similar.... :)

The rush is on! :)
Just listed!!! Here's a Harbor Freight (a.k.a. Fright) 7x10 with no tailstock, no change gears, for $650:

Now marked SOLD at Fbook....which could mean it sold or that the seller changed his mind and decided not to sell it. I contacted the seller about the missing tailstock and change gears - they were not included or available. He said he would take $550. (!) It's hard to imagine why somebody would want to pay $550 for that machine, but humans are endlessly interesting in their motivations! :)

He could also be price baiting people - like saying price is $12345 or similar strange stuff instead of real price.
