Maybe of interest to someone

The ring suspended above the base of the hammer, would that be some kind of emergency stop?
Yeah emergency stop - opening the wallet @ 8500$
I thought it was for operating the clutch that drives the hammer.

And ye for 8500$ I could think of few tools I could buy that would be more useful for me. Mind you I don't blacksmith. but I do have interest in forge presses as I see them being useful for forming blanks for odd shaped stock for machining.

That is sorely tempting. It would be an upgrade of sorts from my air hammer - half again the weight and much more efficient use of electricity. Air hammers have a lot of compression loss, so you need a larger motor to drive the same hammer mass.
But I am not driving to Fernie at this time of year.

And here I'm pondering selling the behemoth I built cuz I haven't used it in 3 plus years, it's heavy enough to rattle the kitchen cupboards roughly 40 feet away, and when I have used it, the neighbors complained...
The "pondering" is due to a plan of us moving 4 hours away. And I'm hoping to find a rural area where that kind of racket is more easily tolerated...
If I do sell, there's more to go with it, like a forge, a rail anvil, and some lengths of 2 inch wire rope if someone is good at twist damascus...

Foot control to operate the clutch, as suggested above.

The hammer looks to be mounted on a timber base plate, and the attached hardware to the ring, looks to be an expedient solution to avoid having to lift your leg up like a peeing dog, to step on the clutch (it engages the drive to the hammer, relative to how far down you press the ring or extension).

That's a nice looking hammer that appears to have had a proper rebuild with a lot of new parts.
Needs a grenade screen or other barrier, in between the spring and the operator!

Not a real common failure, but one that has happened, and has made a right mess out of a few guys faces, when the spring fails in use.
