WTB 1340 or 1440 class lathe

My brother and I recently dispatched our previous 12x37 lathe to a good home, and the replacement my brother hope for never materialized in his hands. So we are looking for a good 1980s to 2000 era 1440 class metal lathe. We will pay a price commensurate with the brand and condition.

Preferably we would want a 1340 Colchester Student 2500 / Harrison M300, or a Standard Modern 1440 but we will consider an alternative brand that is is very good condition.

575V 3Ph is fine, with 3 and 4 jaws chucks, and steady and follow rests as minimum tooling

Can be located anywhere within the GTHA, and perhaps as far as London, St Thomas area. We we will it pick up but help loading would be appreciated.

We are not in a rush, since I have a chipmaster to use in the interim...

Sault College just traded a bunch of their Standard Moderns in for a fleet of Modern Lathes. Not sure length but most were 16" throws. Some went West and some went South...details not available. A beauty 14" was in the mix.

I wish I could find that one.

My brother though really really really wants a Colchester

Hey I took a nice drive to Quebec this fall to pick up a rotary phase converter and 15 kva transformer so I guess I'd go that far for a lathe too...

You dont even need to speak english and I dont need to speak french... google translate can work for the entire sale...

Thanks for the leads, but we have now found our new 1440 Lathe and are no longer looking unless you know if a mint condition 2000 or newer colchester student 2500
