Looking for a small lathe chuck - Like 3 " 4 jaw?

Hey Folks!

I have not been able to do much machining over the past month or so but hope to be back at it soon. My restoration of the Cincinnati tool grinder should also get back on track as I need to make a few parts. One of the pieces of tooling I need to make is a small 4 jaw chuck with a MT 3 taper mount. This is to fit into the rotary tool grinder for setting up to grind shafts and other round type items.

I am looking for a small 4 jaw that I can mod/add the #3 morse Taper onto. Amazon has one for about $136 but thought I would ask here if anyone has one from a mini lathe or acquired one with other things and it is not of use to them.

Thanks!

Brent

Does your T&CG require something low profile? Sometimes they do because of stickout, weight etc. Maybe something like this?

If a regular body 4J chuck, you should be able to find a suitable backplate. Since its independent jaw (I assume, not 4J scroll) you might be able to find something that can be matched up & arbour/backplate TIR concentricity isnt as big a deal as 3J or collet. But with a 4J you have to dial it in every time

LeeValley sells Taig chucks, their 4 jaw is nicely made. Threaded hole is 3/4-16 I think so not too big a challenge to marry up with an MT taper.
