I wasn't too sure on the asking price. Maybe the asking price has something to do with being an antique?

It is a nice machine and is well-equipped. I agree the asking price is likely double what he can expect to get for it though (at least here in Ontario). In Edmonton, however, I suspect it commands a little more than here. Who knows - with $80 + oil again, there could be some big-spenders returning soon in a market with little supply for this sort of machine ?

The modern CNC engravers have largely gutted the overall demand for these. But for the right guy who is into engraving and has a love for the vintage stuff and the floor-space to support it all, there will be interest. A buddy of mine bought a Taylor-Hobson machine a few years back and I am quite impressed with all the neat stuff he's done with it since.

That's consistent for working floor type pantographs in Alberta. About double what I'd pay.

With today's "scorching-hot" pricing on vintage machines (even here in machine-rich Southern Ontario) you certainly can't blame a fella for testing the current market conditions initially on the seemingly high side of things.

Before I bought my pantograph, I found 2 floor model pantographs, with fonts for around 2000$. I waited and missed getting 2 for free with 60 fonts. the owner just carted them to the dump - not even Federal metals... ( i missed them by 3 weeks)

The price they command to a motivated buyer is around 2K with at least one font. For a 'fair' price, in my opinion, $1000 - $1300 with one font. $700 is a bargain.
