    Princess 4x6 Bandsaw

Thought I would throw this out there fellas. Ye Old 4x6 Princess auto Horozontal/Vertical bandsaw is on for 469.99 right now. This is the same one that KMS/Busy Bee sell for like 800$. Excellent deal in my opinion. I got a refund for the price I paid over and above this, 600$. Which I thought...

    Scam Awareness

Just a reminder to be vigilant on scams…. For the first time EVER after doing many many online e transfer type deals, I was scammed for 119$. The person posted an old steady rest on Facebook marketplace that I thought I could retrofit onto my lathe….. agreed on 80$ plus 39 for shipping…...

Talk me off of the edge…. How green is the grass really?

Ok guys. I feel like I’ve come to a crossroads in my machining journey. I’ve had some good conversations with some machinist friends, and started down the firestick smithing rabbit hole. I’m looking on my project horizon, and at this point, the projects that I feel like I need to do, and the...

    8” 4 Jaw D1-3 backing

Large chuck, came with my lathe. The way it’s setup right now it’s on a D1-3 backplate…..I’ll keep the plate if you don’t want it, the chuck itself is threaded. Not very true to the D1-3 adaptor and no through hole. Would be fine for going slow.. or if you have an old atlas or a threaded chuck...

    BaitMaster’s (Work) Bench

Thought I would give an update on my situation. Really appreciate this forum, it gave me the encouragement to get started with machining and to rebuild my mill. The mill is done! And running. I had to make a few more parts for it along the way on my lathe, but it got done. I’m working on a...

    Determining Steel type….

Wondering if anyone has some tricks of the trade for knowing what kind of steel you have if from an unknown source. I recently acquired an abundance of 2 1/8” shafting for free…. It was used as a driveshaft for a large machine, driving hundreds of HP…. I don’t know if it’s just mild steel or...

    1hp 3ph Motor

I have an older 1hp motor I found that I was going to put on my lathe but it doesn’t fit, too large of a shaft and frame. I found the motor pretty cheap but I put new bearings in it since the old ones were seized. The motor meggers out perfectly and tests perfectly. When I had it disassembled...

    Used VFD’s

I have two VFD’s for sale. Both used and taken out running. One is a 1/3hp and one is a 1/2hp. Both 240v Single Phase input. The 1/2hp does vector flux control, the 1/3hp is volts per hertz. I’ll test these before they leave my hands and make sure they work. I’ve used these ones before and...

RF-30 Clone.... someone take measurements for me?

Hey all, Recently bought the 1230 Utilathe which is in great shape, and a less perfect RF-30 clone mill branded " Master Machinery ". Anyway, I know that these mills are all (almost) the same and "some" replacement parts are interchangeable. My Z-axis fine feed mechanism is broken and I'm...

    Solidworks Maker - Any questions?

@PeterT wanted a discussion geared towards Solidworks Maker, which I've been using for 1.3 years now, with good success..... If anyone has any questions about specific features, or does/doesn't I can try to answer. Overall impression: Better then fusion (free version) for what I do with it...
