• Hi - We're having intermittent forum issues. Posts, alerts, and anything involving email like signing up or password changes are having problems but not for everyone or everywhere. Josh is working on it. No ETA right now. Thanks Josh - BTW this is a volunteer forum so SLA's are just best effort. EDIT -> I manually batch updated about 25 people stuck on the email notification. Try logging in now with your password. EDIT -> May 8/23. I updated another bunch of users stuck on email notifications. Try to login if you are stuck. If you really can't get in contact us on facebook or if you know a forum member get them to ask us.

    Shop Made BXA tool holders

I wasn't sure I was going to have enough JAX for the amount of stuff I had to do. The bottle is 16oz. So, I put the parts one at a time in a sour cream container, poured a bit over and brushed it around with an acid brush. I did a second coat with enough fluid to submerge each part completely...

    Shop Made BXA tool holders

Finally got around to Blackening and finishing my tool holders. Thanks to Craig @YYCHM for his efforts in procuring the JAX Tool Black. Here's the steps I used to do the job. First wash well with degreaser, rinse in warm water and blow dry. Wash in Methyl Hydrate, blow dry, Immerse in JAX, rinse...

My thinking was it might work well on a TAIG or Sherline lathe?

2023 May Meetup - Calgary organization thread.

I intend to bring this along. 0.2 HP DC motor and electronic speed control. I really don't have a project for it. If anyone is interested the proceeds could go to the meetup funding. I have about $60 invested?

I'm not sure about pistons. I see import cast pistons available but only for standard sizes, Wiseco don't list them in their current catalogue. It could be challenge! I wouldn't suggest you tool up for just one set of cylinders unless you plan to take in other work. . Jim Titmus has the...

Hi! Jeff. Don Sipes in Airdrie. Last winter I made a post here about wanting to bore and hone 2 stroke cylinders. It's still something I would like to do, but for now I'm going to have someone do it for me. If your set up to do 2 stroke stuff I'll get you to do them? THANKS

Moving the head on a round column mill.

I've never used a round column mill but I have read many posts on various forums about the limitations of round column for varying tool lengths. This link offers some hack to deal with this problem that I found interesting.

    DC Motor

Very similar but not from a treadmill. I suspect maybe it was intended to be paired with a gear reduction drive. The output shaft is only 3/8 inch, it's short and has a slot cut in the end like it was intended to engage with something other than a pully and it's only about 1/4 HP.

    Instrument cluster

I really like the Cafe style, but probably not. My back doesn't appreciate low bars. It will be a mongrel with elements of Cafe, Tracker, Bobber and whatever inspiration comes to mind. Solo seat for sure.

    Instrument cluster

Not sure on attachment yet. But extension on the bottom edge will probably bolt to a frame that supports the headlight, signal lights and possibly a bikini fairing. Frame will attach to upper and lower triple clamps. At least that's the plan till I change my mind. Bike is a 1972 Kawasaki H1 500...

On second thought. I've never used a die filer. I've never seen a die filer in the real. only pictures. I'm not sure what I'd do with it!

    DC Motor

Years ago my wife and I were visiting in Southern Ontario. The folks we were visiting took us to a large discount/surplus store. There was a bin full of surplus DC motors for $19.99. How could I pass that up so one flew home with me. I found a DC motor controller on eBay that looked like it...

    Supplies Cutting Oil

I have been looking for a new cutting oil I can buy in small quantities. The last time I was at Blackfoot Industrial Supply in Calgary they were offering this! Super sticky high pressure cutting oil. 1. The best thing about it is it's super sticky and stays where you put it (acid brush). Put it...

The dovetail cutter worked OK. But chip load is pretty high with only one insert. It was a long slow process with lots of small slow cuts. It would probably better with at least 2 inserts.

I want to do some sort of finish to protect them from rust. Any kind of plating is out as it would effect the dimensions and fit. Some sort of surface conversion process? Anyone with experience? Suggestions?
