• Hi - We're having intermittent forum issues. Posts, alerts, and anything involving email like signing up or password changes are having problems but not for everyone or everywhere. Josh is working on it. No ETA right now. Thanks Josh - BTW this is a volunteer forum so SLA's are just best effort. EDIT -> I manually batch updated about 25 people stuck on the email notification. Try logging in now with your password. EDIT -> May 8/23. I updated another bunch of users stuck on email notifications. Try to login if you are stuck. If you really can't get in contact us on facebook or if you know a forum member get them to ask us.

    Motorcycle Lift

Very nice build! What do you think it cost? If you used a screw instead of a hydraulic ram do you think you could turn it? What does the mower weigh?

    Motorcycle Lift

@Dabbler also suggested since you have shop crane John why don't you just lift it up with that onto a sturdy table? probably a good idea. not quite as interesting.

    Motorcycle Lift

I was working on my new two wheeler - and I really wanted a lift to save my knees and back and ... Lifts are expensive. I put together these plans to make one out of wood. I'm not sure I"m going to build it or not but it has been an interesting exercise. I think it will cost $150ish. It...

Ordered yesterday and they are here overnight! From the US! I’ve ordered from them before and been similarly impressed. Expensive though.

It appears I've broken my printer...

I think you’re right. How about plugging the z axis control into the x axis motor. Then you can isolate it down to the motor.

It appears I've broken my printer...

Also one thing - the filament will prevent the motor from turning unless ithe hot is on and allows filament to flow through it. That might be another thing to check - if the hot end stays cool then then the motor won’t turn. You said it did turn manually so I guess Brian you have handled that.

It appears I've broken my printer...

Could Brian apply power say 12v dc to one pair of wires and see the stepper move 1 degree then the other pair and this would show if the motor can move or is bad electrically? Of course disconnect the boards from the wiring first! I’m not that familiar with steppers but I do know the board...

I’m not sure how these springs work. Is the at rest position fully extended? What keeps the spring from turning into a broken tape measure mess?

Maybe we should all get lead screw covers (and power feed covers). Exposed moving machinery is not a good idea.

What are those covers called exactly and where do you buy them? and once you have them installed how do you oil the lead screw?

    Tips/Techniques Engraving numbers

The HAAS milling machine sort of does that. You can orient the spindle programmatically and there is a brake but it's just the motor holding it in place - it will wiggle if you turn it with you hand and then spring back to it's starting position. I'm not sure it's good enough to use as a shaper...

    Tips/Techniques Engraving numbers

More thoughts on engraving/marking. I came across a very strange tool from a germany company AMF on the TItans CNC forum. https://shop.amf.de/ I think it's some sort of stylus. It is very fast on the CNC machines yet does not seem to spin. Maybe it works by pressure and is actually a drag tool...
