• Hi - We're having intermittent forum issues. Posts, alerts, and anything involving email like signing up or password changes are having problems but not for everyone or everywhere. Josh is working on it. No ETA right now. Thanks Josh - BTW this is a volunteer forum so SLA's are just best effort. EDIT -> I manually batch updated about 25 people stuck on the email notification. Try logging in now with your password. EDIT -> May 8/23. I updated another bunch of users stuck on email notifications. Try to login if you are stuck. If you really can't get in contact us on facebook or if you know a forum member get them to ask us.

Compound needs a better degree dial

Possibly flogging a dead horse, but take a look at the position indicator. Pin, not a scribed line. I suspect this would be much easier to align with whatever degree plate or degree tape you implement...

Garage machine shop for sale, $40k, Calgary, AB

The seller is probably realistic on the value, based on the description. Problem is, my guess is most of his potential market would rather buy old used manual machinery and have the fun of doing their own modifications and CNC conversions. I’d estimate 30% of the posts on this board are...

    $70million Lotto Max

Best strategy - try to have enough savings to maintain you and your wife until you shuffle off this mortal coil, but not much more. Don’t make you kids fight over the inheritance, just exit with enough left over to pay for a really good wake.

    $70million Lotto Max

The day I cashed my first full-time paycheck, my father took me to see his insurance agent and signed me up for life insurance and a saving plan. Started withdrawing from the savings plan last year when I retired. Wisest thing my father ever taught me. Lottery tickets are fun, not investments.

What a beautiful Saturday to not be inside

Down to the end of the block to check the mailbox, then one photo facing west, one facing east. Sunset shot is towards Galiano Island, blue sky shot is towards Westham Island in the mouth of the Fraser River. Politics aside, and our country isn’t perfect, with pockets of hardship, but in...

    $70million Lotto Max

Correlation is not causation. I'm moderately careful with my money, but buy $50 in lottery tickets a month. It's just a fun thing, my only vice. I don't smoke, drink, or buy coffee at Starbucks. Plans are well-laid out if I actually win anything. During COVID, my son asked me "how will this...

Pao Chuan 14x32 lathe Kamloops BC $2000

The Grizzly G4002 (discontinued) was a short bed version of the G4003, similar to the BB CX707 12”x36” but only 24” bed. Almost the same length as the B2227L, but twice the weight. And has a cam lock spindle with full geared spindle, geared feeds, power cross feed. All the goodies...

Pao Chuan 14x32 lathe Kamloops BC $2000

The PC-36 lathe will do just fine for threading 304/316, provided you’re not trying to cut a 1“ UNC in two passes. I ran a valve machining shop for 20 years, did a lot of 304/316 work on 14x40 and smaller machines. My current machining is mostly aluminum, and the B2227L lathe I have has geared...

Compound needs a better degree dial

Quick-n-dirty 4” PVC is 114.3 mm O.D.. So a coupling is just a hair over at the end and flares a bit inn to the center (press fit and the PVC cement softens the plastic so the pipe and coupling can be squooshed together.) My New Hermes ITX-L engraver (look it up) came with an indexer to...

    Support from supplier

My experience both buying and selling has been positive as well. I’ve been a eBayer since 2001, and Amazonian from the days they only sold books. Only ever had one package go astray, and I’m about 95% sure it was stolen by an employee at the grocery store (post office operated in a grocery store).

Compound needs a better degree dial

Hate to make all this electronics seem irrelevant, but all you need is extra index marks on the compound base. Little scribed plates located every 45* around the circumference, then just a tiny bit of mental math.

My ELS journey is posted as “ELS Electronic Lead Screw Concept” My 10x18 works just fine with a NEMA 23 geared 5:2. I don’t know how much torque you‘ll need but I suspect a NEMA 34 would be just fine. Straight open loop stepper is all you require, John‘s ELS doesn’t need anything too...

    $70million Lotto Max

Sometimes the winner deserves it. Fellow I know won about $500K. Quit his job th next day. Although, to be fair, he drove a septic tank suction truck for McRae Environmental so it probably didn't take too much soul searching for him to make the choice to quit.
