For general welding work the cheapest stuff you can get is A36 structural steel - which is hot rolled mild steel. If I may suggest a solution to your table needs is buying tables etc. at auction - already pre-made and for much, much, much less then the steel that is in them. Unless you need...

I would call this misleading lies....

I would say that the "100% beef" is as USDA defines pure beef - the meat in there may not exactly biologically be 100% beef. There are provisions for limits of "contamination" in all food. Exciting to find out how many "insect parts" there can be in your food.

The 25% surtax may not even apply to us. First of all origin of steel has to be US (not Canada or other country(?)) second of all it doesn't seem that our stuff is on the list here: https://www.international.gc.ca/controls-controles/steel-acier/notices-avis/936.aspx?lang=eng Either that or we...

Wow - that is crazy high price - people got a great deal on my 4140 and 4330 steel! Got to look more at auctions and maybe try to get some of the smaller pieces - buying retail in Calgary is way out of the league. https://www.midweststeelsupply.com/store/1018coldrollsteelroundbar Steel...

Looking at DRO for 6x26 knee mill - need advice

eBay doesn't care. They simply forwarded you to payment provider - payPal. PayPal does indeed care but "somewhat" - they have "limits" - they for example will try their hardest not to refund you from their own pocket. They have no issues with refund they can deduct from account of the seller...

Looking at DRO for 6x26 knee mill - need advice

I actually never yet used Banggood - this seller separates the scales and the unit. eBay also has good selection and with paypal you are "protected". Then again aliexpress refunded my mom $50 USD for a camera that never made it. So maybe they are as good as paypal - where you are...

Looking at DRO for 6x26 knee mill - need advice

Use Border Bee duty service - they will charge GST plus a small fee of like 15 CAD for the service. Other DRO offered are these -...

Strange case of cheese US made drill

Well I had no issues making the cut at the same parameters with another 2" drill so speed / coolant / how much I cut was not an issue. I take a look at the angle a bit more - but 135 deg is for hard steel while 118 is for mild stuff - thus if it is say 140 it should not literally fall apart as...

CanTek CT1440G gear head lathe for sale

At $3200 it was way too low. Austrian made Enco 8.6 - lathe plus mill went for almost $4000 with taxes on auction few days ago (Alberta gov surplus). Granted Enco 8.6 is an excellent small lathe & well made but its tiny with little 0.5hp engine (milling attachment has 1/4hp). Motor size gives...

Looking at DRO for 6x26 knee mill - need advice

I got Chinese DRO of eBay I think (or aliexpress) very, very, very happy so far with it. If I have some spare time I will buy more Chinese DRO systems for my other old mill, my old falling apart lathe and on my surface grinder. I uses border bee for fees.

Yeah for that money I would buy it right away - would make a nice present for my dad.

I would call this misleading lies....

    1. Vermont American dies and taps don't have "stellar" consumer reputation 2. Misleading Amazon product description are all over the place. At least if you ordered 1/4-18 NPT and you actually got 1/4-18 NPT you should be happy. It is frequent to see picture of item X and get item Y. 3. Amazon...

Strange case of cheese US made drill

So I have this drill MT4 2" I tried to use two times now. I drilled in either 4140 or 4330 steel (not sure which one) First pass was with 1" second with 1.5" and third was to be with this 2". Speed with 2" was 80 rpm so rather slow - no issues with 1.5" with 100 rpm and 1" with 200 rpm. I...

Enco 8.6 lathe - mill combo

It sold for 3,675.00 + GST. I think that is a bit much for a small machine even through its a combo.

OKay...who scooped the Atlas lathe for a song?

WOW. All I got to say WOW. Just when you thought you had a deal someone drops something like this.

I love the pig @ 13:10 - I actually have a friend at work and she loves pigs and I promised to CNC her a pig (or maybe 3D print it).

Would something with a bit more carbon content cost more? 1045 for example? https://www.capitalsteel.net/news/blog/1018-vs-1045-steel-comparison 1018 is just cold rolled equivalent (almost) to A-36 hot rolled stuff.

    MIlling machine advice

I use ER40 collets when I need to use bigger sizes - but I don't have a full set. I am also trying out TG100 collets - they should work better when your are pushing things hard with bigger cutter - or so does the internet say. I guess ER-32 as well as other sizes holders are common in other...
