Thread indicator for Clausing 100 Mk 3 lathe

This is the thread dial gear on my Emco V13. Not much to it.

    Tool Chucking Reamers

One comment. a 1.5 thou press is huge for a 0.250 pin. If you were to do that on a casting, it would likely break. A better fit would be a half though under reamer or less, or an on size reamer and retaining compound. Even 5/8 dowel pins are tight with a half thou press fit.

    Monarch 10EE $4500 Langley BC !!

The tube drives are a different story. This is not one of them. This is an early 10ee, commonly called a round dial 10ee. This one came with a motor generator setup. A 3ph motor drives a dc generator, which then drives the DC spindle motor. The later tube (actually thyristors) drives could be...

    Monarch 10EE $4500 Langley BC !!

The requirements of a lathe in general, besides what Dabbler wrote, are different than a lot of DC motor implementations. So far there are no plug and play solutions for a DC motor drive that suit both the motor, and the application in this case. That is why the guys like Keith Rucker are using...

    Brazing Cast Iron

One of the guys who taught me a lot was an excellent stick/mig/tig welder yet almost always brazed anything cast iron. Its a very strong repair if done properly, with much less chance of cracking. In fact, myself, I don't think I have ever had a cast iron repair crack when brazed. I have when I...

    Monarch 10EE $4500 Langley BC !!

I have eaten some questionable things, especially in my bar hopping days, but I can honestly say, that a testicle festival never crossed my mind.

    Brazing Cast Iron

I agree the pre and post heating are the most important considerations, whether brazing or welding. Some parts i've brazed on a bbq, but this one would need a small campfire because of the size. You'd need to get it to and keep it at probably 300F or so. Easily done.

    Brazing Cast Iron

You've left the crusty stage a long time ago. Crusty guys are counting the days to retirement, hate almost everyone except kids, but mostly hate stupid bosses and new ideas.

    Brazing Cast Iron

I'm just a crusty 49 year old. I started gas welding and brazing at 13 because i couldn't afford a mig welder but I saved up for a set of torches and a buzzbox. I had an Austin Mini that I rebuilt with gas welding and brazing. I had a really good mentor at the time who taught me the ways. He...

    Brazing Cast Iron

Thats a pretty straightforward brazing repair. Any welding shop with a crusty 60 years old guy in the back should be able to easily handle it. If you're willing to handle shipping expenses and shop labor, I'd do it if you can't find anyone local.

    Monarch 10EE $4500 Langley BC !!

DC drives don't work easily on these dc motor 10ee's. This is well documented. I own one and researched it a ton. This one should be approached as a candidate for a 3ph motor swap, or better, a servo swap. That being said, 4500 is a good deal for a nice looking 10ee. Just be aware of what it...

RF45 too good to be true!

I received 3 very nice makeup brushes. Allie approved my refund right away. Pretty painless process.

    Cross-Slide Leadscrew & Nut

A thought that also occurred to me, it would it be a reasonable repair to 'correct' your existing screw, even if it means that it's a non standard size. You're making a new nut so it really doesn't matter if it is an oddball pitch diameter.
